Summary: This is an issue that occurs when your ear-level device (headphones, earbuds, hearing aids, or cochlear implants) is connected to some other Apple device and not the iPhone you are using with Noopl. Often your ear-level device works with multiple Apple products. And if they are connected to a different device, Noopl can't work since there is no compatible device to stream the Noopl audio.
When Noopl Listen begins, the following screen is displayed, asking you to insert your right AirPod:
Often when you open your AirPods Pro case and insert an AirPod, you will hear a tone in your AirPods indicating it has connected and also you will see the battery status:
In the event those things happen but you remain on the "Connect AirPods Pro" screen in Noopl Listen, the most likely explanation is that your AirPods Pro did not connect to the iPhone you are using with Noopl and instead connected to another of your Apple devices (an iPad, a Mac, or even another iPhone).
Using the Control Center, you can confirm this and also force the AirPods to connect to your desired device.
Access the Control Center by:
- (on an iPhone X or newer) swiping down from the top right edge of the iPhone screen
- (on earlier models) swiping up from the bottom edge of the iPhone screen
The Control Center should then display. Take note of the AirPlay icon, , toward the top right of the screen. We've magnified it and circled it in blue in the screenshot below. If that icon is white, it indicates no AirPlay device (including AirPods Pro) is connected.
If you tap the AirPlay icon, , you'll see a screen where all available AirPlay devices are listed and can be controlled. In our case, we can see the AirPods Pro are listed. But they are not connected to this phone since the checkmark is next to the iPhone.
This is why Noopl is asking to "Connect AirPods Pro" — it is waiting for the iPhone and AirPods Pro to connect. If you tap the name of the AirPods Pro, that will force them to connect to this iPhone instead of whichever other device they had been connected to:
When you do that, you will see the checkmark move to the AirPods Pro. In addition, the AirPlay icon will turn blue, indicating an AirPlay device is in use by this iPhone:
If you then tap outside of the these screens, you should end up back in Noopl and be in an active Listen session.
